The marquise cut and the navette cut both refer to an elongated, oval diamond cut with pointed ends. The terms have different origins:
Marquise Cut:
The name dates back to the 18th century and is attributed to French King Louis XV. He is said to have commissioned the cut to mimic the shape of the lips of his mistress, the Marquise de Pompadour. This is why the cut is also referred to as the marquise.Navette Cut:
"Navette" is the French word for "little ship" or "boat." The name describes the elongated, pointed shape of the stone, which resembles a ship or a small spindle.Although the terms are often used interchangeably, "marquise" is more commonly used for gemstones, while "navette" tends to appear more frequently in technical language when referring to diamonds or other precious stones.
Care instructions
Your piece of jewellery is not just an accessory, but also a valuable extension of your personality. To ensure that you can enjoy your unique jewellery for a long time, we recommend the following care instructions:
1. Storage: Store your jewelry in a dry and dark place to protect it from moisture, direct sunlight and possible scratches. Avoid storing jewelry on top of each other to prevent friction and damage.
2. Cleaning: Clean your jewelry regularly to maintain its shine and radiance. Use a soft cloth or a gentle brush. Be careful not to use aggressive cleaning products to avoid scratches. If your jewelry contains gemstones, make sure that they do not come into contact with chemical substances.
3. Contact with cosmetics and chemicals: Avoid direct contact of your jewelry with cosmetics, perfumes, hairspray and cleaning products. These can damage the surface of the jewelry or affect its color. Do not put on your jewelry until you have applied care products.
4. Protection from impact and heat: Protect your jewelry from strong impacts and high temperatures. Heat can particularly affect pearls and organic materials. Remove your jewelry when doing heavy work or exercising.
By following these care instructions, you can ensure that your jewelry remains in optimal condition and that you can enjoy its beauty for many years.
