    • The colors of smokey quartz:

Smoky quartz is a fascinating variety of quartz that ranges from a soft light brown to a deep, almost black color. The color differences are caused by natural radiation effects on aluminum ions within the crystal lattice. Depending on the intensity of this radiation and the geological conditions, the coloration can vary over millions of years.

How are the different colors created?

The brown to black color of the smoky quartz results from the natural radioactive radiation of the surrounding rock. This radiation changes the electronic structure of the aluminum-containing quartz matrix, which creates the dark colors. The intensity of the radiation and the duration of the exposure determine how dark the smoky quartz becomes.

      • Light brown smoky quartz : Less exposed to radiation, often formed in shallower geological layers.
      • Medium to dark smoky quartz : Stronger radiation over longer periods of time, often from deep or particularly old geological formations.
      • Morion (almost black smoky quartz) : Extremely high radiation exposure, rare finds with particularly intense color.

      influence on the value

The value of a smoky quartz depends not only on the color intensity but also on clarity, size and origin:

      • Rarity of color : Deep dark smoky quartzes like Morion are particularly sought after because they are rarer.
      • Clarity and transparency : The clearer a smoky quartz is, the more valuable it becomes – cloudy or heavily included specimens are less in demand.
    • Care instructions

Your piece of jewellery is not just an accessory, but also a valuable extension of your personality. To ensure that you can enjoy your unique jewellery for a long time, we recommend the following care instructions:

      1. Storage: Store your jewelry in a dry and dark place to protect it from moisture, direct sunlight and possible scratches. Avoid storing jewelry on top of each other to prevent friction and damage.

      2. Cleaning: Clean your jewelry regularly to maintain its shine and radiance. Use a soft cloth or a gentle brush. Be careful not to use aggressive cleaning products to avoid scratches. If your jewelry contains gemstones, make sure that they do not come into contact with chemical substances.

      3. Contact with cosmetics and chemicals: Avoid direct contact of your jewelry with cosmetics, perfumes, hairspray and cleaning products. These can damage the surface of the jewelry or affect its color. Do not put on your jewelry until you have applied care products.

      4. Protection from impact and heat: Protect your jewelry from strong impacts and high temperatures. Heat can particularly affect pearls and organic materials. Remove your jewelry when doing heavy work or exercising.

By following these care instructions, you can ensure that your jewelry remains in optimal condition and that you can enjoy its beauty for many years.
