How does a print version work?
In a pressure setting, the gemstone is held securely by the tension of the metal. The piece of jewelry is designed so that the stone is clamped tightly between two or more metal points. This tension ensures that the stone sits securely without the need for prongs to enclose it from above. The stone almost appears to "float," but in reality it is firmly held in place by the surrounding metal.
Why doesn't the stone fall out?
